Wedding Photography Styles.

As you would have seen in our online gallery, we have 3 very distinctive styles of wedding photography which is extremely popular and the most common styles and genres popular in the Wedding Industry right now. We commonly get asked what the difference between each of the various styles and how clients can best decide what styles works best for them and their chosen style. A lot of clients may not necessarily realise what the differences are and may think its just a color/editing style change. The difference is actually more than that. Here in this Blog we'll try and further break down our photography styles, what makes them unique and how each look differs from the others. More importantly we give you some advice on what you need to do to achieve certain look and feel to the relevant styles.

Ultimately each style has a very different and unique shooting and editing style that is heavily influenced by light and environment. It is really important that you read this blog carefully and make sure you are clear on what you like and dont like. It isnt uncommon for clients after their wedding day to say to us "oh we have changed our mind can we change our photo style". Once a style has been shot a certain way its hard to change. Also note, weather will play a huge part in the photography style. Sometimes a client may chose a bright soft and airy style (OG Style) but on the wedding day its dark overcast and gloomy with no sunlight. Whats really important to know is once you have chosen a style its very hard to "switch" styles after your wedding/photoshoot as the style is not just about editing.

OG (Original Style) - Bright Soft Airy

Two Peaches Photography was started back in 2010. This was our original photography style hence the name OG, which was very popular back then and is still extremely popular till this day. Its a genre and style that is very timeless, classical, very pretty and very intimate. It is a style that is trend proof and will always look elegant. This style mimics Medium Format Film and also Fuji 400H Film Stock

The unique character of the OG style can be identified as follows

  • The photos are very bright and soft. Lots of soft blurry backgrounds
  • The photos are very dreamy and whimsical
  • The poses are very candid and natural and intimate
  • Its a style of photography where we do a lot of close ups to knock out and blur the background
  • There is a lot of focus on the tiny little details where we do a lot of abstract angles and details
  • It is a style that is very pastel and peachy in its color tones
  • The skin tones are very soft and pretty, peachy and warm
  • The over all color tones and scheme of the OG style is very soft and pastel colors.
  • This style tends to be more casual, candid and informal eg no Tuxedos etc.

How do we achieve this look?

  • Choose pastel color tones for your wedding theme. Avoid bold and overly strong colors
  • Choose photography locations that are very bright and has lots of natural light. Avoid rooms/locations that are very dark or has bold colors or dark themes.
  • Sunlight is key to success.
  • Wedding outfits suits more the casual fun elegant types with navy suits and brown shoes working extremely well with this style.
  • Time your photoshoot to maximise the most natural light. 2.30pm - 5.00pm is the ideal photography time to achieve this look
  • We recommend locations with a lot of nature as a great location for achieving the OG look
  • Little details make all the difference to achieving the over all OG look
  • We keep it very casual and candid. A lot of photos are fun and in the moment. Wth minimal posing.

Luxe Editorial Style

The Luxe Editorial Style has become very popular in recent years and is inspired by the Vogue Bride Editorial Style. Its a style that is inspired by fashion and has a modern chic feel about the wedding photos. Its a style that works extremely well with Black and Whites and for the type of bride who wants a unique modern fashionable vibe to their wedding photos.

The unique character of the Luxe Editorial style can be identified as follows

  • The photos are darker and contrastier.
  • The photos are very crisp and has an urban new york vibe about it
  • The poses are more posed and fashionable and has a magazine feel about it
  • Is a photography style that tends to focus a lot on the urban areas and background to achieve the look.
  • Its all about the details. The fashion the brands the style
  • The color tones are bolder sharper and contrastier which works better for the editorial style. So strong bold colors, black and whites, golds etc all works very well.
  • The skin tones are warmer and more tanned
  • Think Fashion and Fashion Magazine
  • Its a style that does not work in bright sunlight. Needs clean shade and urban landscapes to achieve the look.
  • The look tends to be very sophisticated

How do we achieve this look?

  • Choose strong and bold color tones for your wedding theme. Black and White, Golds, Bold Dark Greens etc are all fantastic color tones
  • Choose photography locations that are more urban in its style as it lends itself to the "New York" Fashion Vibe. Architecture, Buildings, Sandstones are all backdrop that ideally works for Luxe.
  • Clean Shade avoiding harsh sunlight and backlighting is key!
  • Wedding outfits suits more the smart fashion style. Style away from Pastel Bridesmaid dresses or princessy type wedding dresses. Bow Ties, Tuxedos shiny black shoes adds that elegance and charm.
  • Anytime of the day works for this style as long as we stay in clean shade in urban areas.
  • We dont recommend locations with bright sunlight, greenery, garden landscape etc
  • The details matters. Those fancy high end brand items makes for the "fashion" style!
  • The poses are very posed and editorial. (Dont worry if you dont know how to pose. We'll Teach you
  • Works great for wedding venues that have a modern vibe and has strong contrasts eg Doltone House, Le Montage, Curzon Hall etc.
  • Its all about the look, the brands and the "high end vibe/boujee" look
